Conduit Cable Systems Installed
NEW UPDATE: Waste Water Wednesdays!
Last week, we announced that FPUA was recognized as a 2025 Utility of the Future Today in Water Reuse by the Water Environment Federation (WEF). This national distinction highlights innovation, sustainability, and community service. We proudly shared this recognition with our Board of Directors during the October 7 meeting, celebrating their leadership and continued support that drive our progress forward.
This week, new progress can be seen across several areas of the site. At the Nereda basins, crews are installing the conduit cable tray system, which will connect and organize the on-tank equipment to support future electrical and control components. The headworks is nearing completion, with protective coatings applied to the influent piping and both grit classifiers fully installed and aligned.
A new aerial view highlights the developing stormwater system from above the headworks, showing the layout of the drainage features across the site. Inside the Operations & Maintenance Building, the locker room continues to take shape as interior finishes are added.
On the conveyance system, crews are finalizing pavement restoration along the corridor where the new force main was installed on Jenkins Road between Okeechobee Road and Edwards Road, marking another step toward completing this major infrastructure improvement.
Every milestone shows how far we’ve come and reflects FPUA’s commitment to openness, accountability, and innovation as we build a facility designed to protect the environment and deliver reliable service for Fort Pierce.
As always, we’d like to thank all of our partners, contractors, vendors, and crews who are helping us deliver this important project to our customers! FPUA is grateful for this project with industry leaders Globaltech, Inc., Haskell and Hazen, the site designers and build team; TLC Diversified, Inc., re-routing the conveyance system to redirect wastewater flows away from the Indian River Lagoon; Kimley-Horn, the conveyance system designers, and the sub-contractors working so hard to keep this project safe and on schedule.
We are also thankful for the partnership with the City of Fort Pierce in this infrastructure improvement effort that will benefit the Fort Pierce community for generations to come.
