Teams install high-voltage switchgear and VFD equipment

Significant advancements continue across the new facility. Last week, crews completed key activities at the disk filters and disinfection facility, where filter units were set in place and final plumbing began. At the blower building, high-service process blowers were installed and are now awaiting wiring and plumbing. Progress also continued at the headworks structure, which entered its mechanical phase with pretreatment equipment installation and connection work.

This week, substantial progress is visible inside the main electrical building as teams install the high-voltage switchgear and variable frequency drive (VFD) equipment essential to powering the new plant. At the headworks, installation of grit and screening equipment has begun, marking an important milestone in the treatment process. Meanwhile, cabinetry and console installation are underway in the O&M building’s control room and laboratory, preparing the space for future operations.

Each milestone represents measurable progress toward a facility that will provide dependable service and lasting environmental benefits for the Fort Pierce community.

As always, we’d like to thank all of our partners, contractors, vendors, and crews who are helping us deliver this important project to our customers! FPUA is grateful for this project with industry leaders Globaltech, Inc., Haskell and Hazen, the site designers and build team; TLC Diversified, Inc., re-routing the conveyance system to redirect wastewater flows away from the Indian River Lagoon; Kimley-Horn, the conveyance system designers, and the sub-contractors working so hard to keep this project safe and on schedule.

We are also thankful for the partnership with the City of Fort Pierce in this infrastructure improvement effort that will benefit the Fort Pierce community for generations to come.
