Structural and utility enhancements across the site

NEW UPDATE: Wastewater Wednesdays!

Last week, the O&M building reached a key visual milestone with the installation of colored veneer block, creating a cohesive exterior that matches the maintenance bay walls. Interior work also advanced with the completion of the maintenance bay staircase and near-final plumbing and framing for the office spaces. The sludge buffer tanks received their final concrete coating, enhancing durability and reducing future maintenance needs.

This week, construction efforts have focused on structural and utility enhancements across the site. At the headworks structure, crews are nearing completion of the final grit chamber wall pours, bringing this area closer to its finished form. Within the O&M building, plumbing and electrical systems are being installed with precision, adding vital infrastructure to support long-term operations.

Progress is also evident at the blower building and disinfection facility, where teams are completing the steel reinforcement for upcoming slab pours. These preparations are crucial for maintaining schedule continuity as the project moves into its next phase of major concrete work.

Every week brings us closer to completing this essential project. Soon, we’ll begin sharing updates on the construction of the conveyance system. Stay tuned as we continue building a stronger, more sustainable future for our community.

As always, we’d like to thank all of our partners, contractors, vendors, and crews who are helping us deliver this important project to our customers! FPUA is grateful for this project with industry leaders Globaltech, Inc., Haskell and Hazen, the site designers and build team; TLC Diversified, Inc., re-routing the conveyance system to redirect wastewater flows away from the Indian River Lagoon; Kimley-Horn, the conveyance system designers, and the sub-contractors working so hard to keep this project safe and on schedule.

We are also thankful for the partnership with the City of Fort Pierce in this infrastructure improvement effort that will benefit the Fort Pierce community for generations.
