Steady progress toward the facility’s overall development

NEW UPDATE: Wastewater Wednesdays!

Last week, hydraulic leak testing was conducted at the chlorine contact chamber, marking a key quality assurance milestone toward operational readiness. Crews completed large-diameter pipe and plumbing connections vital to system performance, while exterior work on the O&M and electrical buildings progressed with wall veneer and roof header installations. Construction also began on the new conveyance system, a significant advancement in enhancing capacity, reliability, and sustainability for the future wastewater treatment facility.

This week, construction continues to move forward with visible progress on several areas of the site. Work is advancing on the sludge holding tank, the exterior of the Nereda basin, and the framing of the headworks deck. Additionally, the concrete slab has been completed at both the blower building and the redundant control room, marking steady progress toward the facility’s overall development.

Every week brings us closer to completing this essential project. Stay tuned as we continue building a stronger, more sustainable future for our community.

As always, we’d like to thank all of our partners, contractors, vendors, and crews who are helping us deliver this important project to our customers! FPUA is grateful for this project with industry leaders Globaltech, Inc., Haskell and Hazen, the site designers and build team; TLC Diversified, Inc., re-routing the conveyance system to redirect wastewater flows away from the Indian River Lagoon; Kimley-Horn, the conveyance system designers, and the sub-contractors working so hard to keep this project safe and on schedule.

We are also thankful for the partnership with the City of Fort Pierce in this infrastructure improvement effort that will benefit the Fort Pierce community for generations.
