Framing and final plumbing nearing completion
NEW UPDATE: Wastewater Wednesdays!
Last week, progress continued across several key areas of the site. Inside the Operations & Maintenance (O&M) building, crews focused on wall framing, HVAC installation, and plumbing for the second-floor offices and control room. Meanwhile, the headworks structure saw its first concrete wall pours and pipe flange installations, and the flow equalization system advanced with the installation of the high-flow pump and valves. Aerial photos captured the impressive scale of the project, highlighting the dedication of our entire build team.
This week, the O&M building reached a major visual milestone with the installation of colored veneer block, giving the exterior a cohesive and durable finish that matches the maintenance bay walls. The maintenance bay staircase has been completed, and framing and final plumbing for the interior office spaces are now nearing completion. The sludge buffer tanks also feature their final concrete coating, a long-lasting finish that will significantly reduce maintenance over time.
We were honored to welcome representatives from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) for an official site tour. Accompanied by FPUA staff, the DEP team had the opportunity to observe firsthand the progress being made and the collaborative effort driving this critical infrastructure project. Their visit highlights our shared commitment to protecting natural resources and delivering a resilient, high-quality treatment system for the Fort Pierce community.
Every week brings us closer to completing this essential project. Soon, we’ll begin sharing updates on the construction of the conveyance system. Stay tuned as we continue building a stronger, more sustainable future for our community.
As always, we’d like to thank all of our partners, contractors, vendors, and crews who are helping us deliver this important project to our customers! FPUA is grateful for this project with industry leaders Globaltech, Inc., Haskell and Hazen, the site designers and build team; TLC Diversified, Inc., re-routing the conveyance system to redirect wastewater flows away from the Indian River Lagoon; Kimley-Horn, the conveyance system designers, and the sub-contractors working so hard to keep this project safe and on schedule.
We are also thankful for the partnership with the City of Fort Pierce in this infrastructure improvement effort that will benefit the Fort Pierce community for generations.
