Veneer blockwork on office side nearly finished

NEW UPDATE: Wastewater Wednesdays!

Last week, construction moved steadily forward with visible progress across the site. Work continued on the sludge holding tank, Nereda basin exterior, and headworks deck framing. Concrete slabs were also completed at the blower building and redundant control room.

This week, we’re seeing exciting developments at the operation and maintenance building, where veneer blockwork on the office side is nearly finished. Interior framing and rough-in work are also wrapping up, with drywall installation next on the schedule. Inside the main electrical building, crews have set the hollow-core roof panels and are preparing to pour the concrete top layer, an important step in fortifying the structure to protect critical high-voltage equipment.

Additionally, conveyance work continues to advance. So far, 1,300 feet of 30” PVC pipe has been installed, starting on the north side of Edwards Road and progressing north toward Okeechobee Road. This week, the 30” force main crossed the canal, and backfilling is underway to restore the area to its original grade. By the end of the week, the canal’s grade and banks will be restored, and installation will continue northward.

Every week brings us one step closer to completing this important project. Stay tuned as we continue working toward a stronger, more resilient future for our community.

As always, we’d like to thank all of our partners, contractors, vendors, and crews who are helping us deliver this important project to our customers! FPUA is grateful for this project with industry leaders Globaltech, Inc., Haskell and Hazen, the site designers and build team; TLC Diversified, Inc., re-routing the conveyance system to redirect wastewater flows away from the Indian River Lagoon; Kimley-Horn, the conveyance system designers, and the sub-contractors working so hard to keep this project safe and on schedule.

We are also thankful for the partnership with the City of Fort Pierce in this infrastructure improvement effort that will benefit the Fort Pierce community for generations.
