Rare look inside the sludge holding tank
NEW UPDATE: Wastewater Wednesdays!
Last week, crews made steady progress across the site. Sodium hypochlorite tanks arrived, final work continued on the sludge tanks, and the O&M building gained a finished look with new colored fascia blocks.
This week, we’re seeing key components fall into place. The AquaDisk filters have arrived on-site, these will polish the effluent after biological treatment and prepare it for final disinfection. We also get a rare look inside the sludge holding tank, which will never look this spotless again. Meanwhile, interior and exterior work continues on both the blower building and the O&M building, with visible changes taking shape each day.
In the conveyance area, installation of 30” PVC continues progressing north toward Okeechobee Road. The directional drill crew is actively working, using ascending sized reamers to widen the bore path and fusing lengths of HDPE pipe to prepare for placement.
Stay tuned as we continue transforming this site into a modern, resilient facility that will serve our community for generations. Each week brings us closer to the finish line, and we look forward to sharing more milestones along the way.
As always, we’d like to thank all of our partners, contractors, vendors, and crews who are helping us deliver this important project to our customers! FPUA is grateful for this project with industry leaders Globaltech, Inc., Haskell and Hazen, the site designers and build team; TLC Diversified, Inc., re-routing the conveyance system to redirect wastewater flows away from the Indian River Lagoon; Kimley-Horn, the conveyance system designers, and the sub-contractors working so hard to keep this project safe and on schedule.
We are also thankful for the partnership with the City of Fort Pierce in this infrastructure improvement effort that will benefit the Fort Pierce community for generations.
