Crews installing HVAC ductwork
NEW UPDATE: Wastewater Wednesdays!
Last week, key components continued arriving and falling into place. The AquaDisk filters, which will polish the treated effluent before disinfection, were delivered to the site. We also got a rare look inside the sludge holding tank, which will never be this spotless again. Crews made steady progress on both the blower and O&M buildings, with work continuing inside and out.
This week, there is exciting progress across the site.
Inside the main electrical and O&M buildings, crews are installing HVAC ductwork and applying ceiling coatings. At the headworks, final connections are being made to the 42-inch influent line, a major step in preparing the plant for full operation.
We also received more specialized treatment equipment, including tray inserts for the grit removal system and chlorine storage tanks that will be used in the disinfection process.
In the conveyance area, installation of the 30-inch PVC pipe continues, and crews are preparing to cross the entrance of Avalon Crossing. A major milestone was achieved with the completion of directional drilling beneath Okeechobee Road. This trenchless installation method helped reduce impacts to traffic at a busy intersection and kept the project moving forward.
Stay tuned as this site continues its transformation into a modern, resilient facility built to serve our community for generations. Every week brings us closer to the finish line, and we look forward to sharing more milestones along the way.
As always, we’d like to thank all of our partners, contractors, vendors, and crews who are helping us deliver this important project to our customers! FPUA is grateful for this project with industry leaders Globaltech, Inc., Haskell and Hazen, the site designers and build team; TLC Diversified, Inc., re-routing the conveyance system to redirect wastewater flows away from the Indian River Lagoon; Kimley-Horn, the conveyance system designers, and the sub-contractors working so hard to keep this project safe and on schedule.
We are also thankful for the partnership with the City of Fort Pierce in this infrastructure improvement effort that will benefit the Fort Pierce community for generations.
