Crews have begun installation of staircases on key treatment tanks
NEW UPDATE: Wastewater Wednesdays!
Last week, we reached several important milestones. The O&M building received its high-capacity process blowers along with the first switchgear and control panels, marking a major step in equipping the facility’s treatment systems. Crews also began installing staircases on key treatment tanks, and the headworks discharge piping layout started taking shape.
This week, visible progress continues across the site. The sodium hypochlorite (liquid bleach) holding tanks have arrived, and final work is underway on the sludge buffer and holding tanks, including electrical, mechanical, and stair/guardrail installations. On the blower building, crews are placing hollow-core roof panels in preparation for the final concrete barrier. The office side of the O&M building has also received its colored fascia block, creating a clean, durable, and uniform exterior finish.
In the conveyance area, directional drill crews mobilized this week and set up MOT for the force main crossing at Okeechobee Road. To date, 1,650 linear feet of 30-inch PVC has been installed, and restoration efforts continue with riprap now in place along both canal slopes.
Each week brings meaningful progress as we work toward delivering a stronger, more resilient utility system for our community. Thank you for following along.
As always, we’d like to thank all of our partners, contractors, vendors, and crews who are helping us deliver this important project to our customers! FPUA is grateful for this project with industry leaders Globaltech, Inc., Haskell and Hazen, the site designers and build team; TLC Diversified, Inc., re-routing the conveyance system to redirect wastewater flows away from the Indian River Lagoon; Kimley-Horn, the conveyance system designers, and the sub-contractors working so hard to keep this project safe and on schedule.
We are also thankful for the partnership with the City of Fort Piercein this infrastructure improvement effort that will benefit the Fort Pierce community for generations.
