Crews resumed installation of a 16-inch force main along 7th Street

New Update: Wastewater Wednesdays!

Work progressed across both the plant and conveyance system. At the plant, hydroseeding, landscaping, and startup activities continued, including seeding the treatment process.

On the conveyance side, crews resumed installation of a 16-inch force main along 7th Street, advancing a key connection from South Hutchinson Island to the new mainland facility.

This Week at the Water Reclamation Facility, plant staff remain focused on startup activities as the facility moves closer to full operation. Crews have begun seeding the treatment process using existing sludge from the IWRF, an important step in establishing the biological treatment needed for the system to function effectively.

On the conveyance side, crews continue advancing installation of a 16-inch force main along 7th Street between Avenue B and Avenue C. This segment plays a critical role in establishing a dependable route to convey wastewater to the new mainland facility. Despite challenging ground conditions, work is progressing steadily as crews navigate the corridor and maintain safe, coordinated operations.

For the Glenview project, 90 percent design plans are under review for approximately 900 linear feet of 24-inch force main that will connect Lift Station F to an existing line on Glenview Avenue. This connection is designed to increase capacity and improve flow distribution, ensuring the system can efficiently accommodate redirected wastewater as the new facility becomes fully operational.

Together, these efforts are strengthening the reliability of Fort Pierce’s wastewater system, improving overall performance, and supporting long-term environmental protection for our community and waterways. Thank you for following along with our progress, and we encourage you to stay connected through our weekly updates as the project continues to move forward.

Also, we’d like to thank all of our partners, contractors, vendors, and crew who are helping us deliver this important project to our customers! FPUA is grateful for this project with industry leaders Globaltech, Inc., Haskell and Hazen, the site designers and build team; TLC Diversified, Inc., re-routing the conveyance system to redirect wastewater flows away from the Indian River Lagoon; Kimley-Horn, the conveyance system designers, and the sub-contractors working so hard to keep this project safe and on schedule.

We are also thankful for the partnership with the City of Fort Pierce in this infrastructure improvement effort that will benefit the Fort Pierce community for generations to come.
