Crews completing final landscaping details

New Update: Wastewater Wednesdays!

Last week, crews advanced final preparations at the WRF, including clean water testing in the Nereda basins, completion of electrical and control systems, and capturing key visuals of the facility as it approaches commissioning. In parallel, early site work began at the Moore’s Creek Booster Pump Station, with initial markings placed for the temporary construction fence to define the project footprint and support upcoming construction activities.

This week, hydroseeding has begun across the common grassed areas of the site, perfectly timed with the recent rainfall to support early growth and stabilization. Crews are also completing final landscaping details, including the mailbox sidewalk, as the site prepares for final asphalt paving. An updated aerial view of the WRF highlights how far the facility has come as it moves closer to full completion.

On the conveyance side, the contractor has resumed work and is advancing installation of a new 16-inch force main along 7th Street between Avenue B and Avenue C. This pipeline originates at Master Lift Station A on South Hutchinson Island, near Orange Avenue, and connects into the existing system near Avenue C, establishing a continuous route to convey wastewater from the island to the new mainland treatment facility.

Together, these efforts will strengthen the reliability of Fort Pierce’s wastewater system, improve overall performance, and support long-term environmental protection for our community and waterways. Thank you for following along with our progress, and we invite you to stay connected with us through our weekly updates as the project continues to move forward.

Also, we’d like to thank all of our partners, contractors, vendors, and crew who are helping us deliver this important project to our customers! FPUA is grateful for this project with industry leaders Globaltech, Inc., Haskell and Hazen, the site designers and build team; TLC Diversified, Inc., re-routing the conveyance system to redirect wastewater flows away from the Indian River Lagoon; Kimley-Horn, the conveyance system designers, and the sub-contractors working so hard to keep this project safe and on schedule.

We are also thankful for the partnership with the City of Fort Pierce in this infrastructure improvement effort that will benefit the Fort Pierce community for generations to come.
