Filter units now in place and final plumbing underway
Last week, progress continued across the site with flooring, ceiling systems, HVAC, and drywall moving forward inside the O&M building. At the blower building and sludge holding tank, the new process blowers were installed, and along the Jenkins Road corridor, conveyance work neared completion with sod placement, asphalt paving, and a walk-through inspection of valves and air release.
This week, crews made visible advances at the disk filters and disinfection facility, where the filter units are now in place and final plumbing is underway. The blower building also continues to take shape with high-service process blowers set and awaiting final wiring and plumbing. Meanwhile, the headworks structure has entered its mechanical phase as teams work on pretreatment equipment installation and plumbing connections, bringing the project another step closer to completion.
Each milestone represents another step toward building a stronger, more sustainable utility for our community. Stay tuned as we share continued progress and key achievements in the weeks ahead. Together, these improvements will ensure reliable service and long-term environmental benefits for Fort Pierce.
As always, we’d like to thank all of our partners, contractors, vendors, and crews who are helping us deliver this important project to our customers! FPUA is grateful for this project with industry leaders Globaltech, Inc., Haskell and Hazen, the site designers and build team; TLC Diversified, Inc., re-routing the conveyance system to redirect wastewater flows away from the Indian River Lagoon; Kimley-Horn, the conveyance system designers, and the sub-contractors working so hard to keep this project safe and on schedule.
We are also thankful for the partnership with the City of Fort Pierce in this infrastructure improvement effort that will benefit the Fort Pierce community for generations to come.
