Progress on Moore’s Creek Booster Station

New Update: Wastewater Wednesday!

Progress on the Moore’s Creek Booster Station is accelerating as the project moves closer to active construction. FPUA has now secured the required permit, completing an important step needed before construction can move forward. At the same time, project materials are being delivered, bringing the equipment and components needed for the next phase into place. With those milestones underway, construction mobilization is anticipated within the next two weeks, marking the transition from pre-construction activities into field construction.

Once operational, the booster station will become an important part of FPUA’s wastewater conveyance system by helping redirect domestic wastewater flows from the existing Master Lift Station A to the new Mainland Water Reclamation Facility. The booster station will include three 150-horsepower screw centrifugal pumps, with two operating as duty pumps and one available as a standby. It will also include emergency generator power and a piping and valve configuration that allows the station or individual pumps to be bypassed when needed, providing greater flexibility for operations and maintenance.

Design is also advancing for improvements serving Lift Station F. The project includes approximately 900 linear feet of new 24-inch force main that will connect Lift Station F to an existing force main on Glenview Avenue. The design is currently being submitted to the County for review, another important step toward moving the project forward.

This new connection will allow Lift Station F to handle redirected wastewater volumes, particularly once the new wastewater treatment plant becomes operational. Together, these improvements are helping prepare FPUA’s conveyance system for the transition to the new MWRF.

Together, these efforts are helping strengthen the infrastructure that serves our community and prepare FPUA’s wastewater system to support the City of Fort Pierce well into the future.

FPUA is grateful for this project with industry leaders Globaltech, Inc., Haskell and Hazen, the site designers and build team; TLC Diversified, Inc., re-routing the conveyance system to redirect wastewater flows away from the Indian River Lagoon; Kimley-Horn, the conveyance system designers, and the sub-contractors working so hard to keep this project safe and on schedule.

We are also thankful for the partnership with the City of Fort Pierce in this infrastructure improvement effort that will benefit the Fort Pierce community for generations to come.
