Crews framing drywall and installing electrical systems
NEW UPDATE: Wastewater Wednesdays
Last week, window installation wrapped up at the O&M building, and drywall work began in the upstairs offices and control room. Center-flow band screens arrived early at the headworks, ready to filter debris from incoming flows before treatment. Meanwhile, the force main crossing at the Wawa driveway was completed, the pipe under Okeechobee Road was flushed, and sidewalk restoration began.
This week, interior work continues to take shape. Crews are framing drywall and installing electrical systems inside the O&M building. HVAC ductwork is staged and ready for installation in the blower building and secondary electrical room. FPUA’s electric T&D crews are also on-site installing new poles to power the HVAC system, allowing interior work like flooring and finishes to continue through the summer heat.
In conveyance, sidewalk formation is ongoing. A 30-inch plug valve was delivered and installed, and the connection to the south side of the directional drill section has been completed. Crews also flushed the force main to ensure continued flow and function.
We were also honored to welcome Fort Pierce’s new City Manager, Richard Chess, and Director of Planning & Zoning, Kevin Freeman, for a tour of the Water Reclamation Facility. Their visit highlights the strong partnership between the City and FPUA as we work together to build a more resilient future.
Stay tuned as we continue building a modern facility to serve the Fort Pierce community for generations to come. More exciting milestones are just around the corner.
As always, we’d like to thank all of our partners, contractors, vendors, and crews who are helping us deliver this important project to our customers! FPUA is grateful for this project with industry leaders Globaltech, Inc., Haskell and Hazen, the site designers and build team; TLC Diversified, Inc., re-routing the conveyance system to redirect wastewater flows away from the Indian River Lagoon; Kimley-Horn, the conveyance system designers, and the sub-contractors working so hard to keep this project safe and on schedule.
We are also thankful for the partnership with the City of Fort Pierce in this infrastructure improvement effort that will benefit the Fort Pierce community for generations.
