Insulation and wallboard installation nearing completion

NEW UPDATE: Wastewater Wednesdays!

Last week, we proudly announced that Fort Pierce Utilities Authority (FPUA) received $5 million in state funding to support the relocation of our wastewater treatment plant. This investment is a major step toward protecting the Indian River Lagoon, modernizing aging infrastructure, and ensuring long-term service reliability for our community.

This week, construction crews continue making meaningful progress. Outside the Nereda basins, the 36" exterior process pipe connections are being finalized. Inside the Operations & Maintenance building, insulation and wallboard installation is nearing completion, creating the foundation for a fully functional operations hub. Meanwhile, the canopy for the chlorine storage building is now in place, and roof panel installation is set to begin. Vertical turbine reuse pumps have also been installed at the chlorine contact chamber to support water reuse operations.

On the conveyance side, the final pipe deflection along the north side of Okeechobee Road has been installed, marking the completion of pipeline installation up to the tie-in points. Teams are now preparing for pressure testing and restoration work.

Each milestone brings us closer to a more resilient, efficient, and environmentally responsible future for Fort Pierce. FPUA is proud to lead this effort through thoughtful planning and sustainable solutions.

As always, we’d like to thank all of our partners, contractors, vendors, and crews who are helping us deliver this important project to our customers! FPUA is grateful for this project with industry leaders Globaltech, Inc., Haskell and Hazen, the site designers and build team; TLC Diversified, Inc., re-routing the conveyance system to redirect wastewater flows away from the Indian River Lagoon; Kimley-Horn, the conveyance system designers, and the sub-contractors working so hard to keep this project safe and on schedule.
