This week, updates span the entire WRRF site as multiple crews and disciplines continue final terminations, programming, and detail work to prepare the facility for biological seeding and initial flows next month. Pipefitting crews have completed tie-ins to the existing force main on Energy Lane, which will deliver raw sewage flows during the initial phase until the larger Jenkins Road force main is installed. The blower electrical building is nearing completion with all switchgear installed and high-voltage leads landed, well crews are on site performing the Mechanical Integrity Test of the deep injection disposal well, and the systems integration team is ensuring all plant equipment communicates seamlessly with the control systems and telemetry infrastructure that operations staff will soon rely on.
On the conveyance side of the project, the contractor continues active construction of the new force main along Avenue B between U.S. 1 and North 7th Street. This work is a critical step in strengthening the wastewater conveyance system and ensuring seamless integration with existing infrastructure as flows transition to the new facility.
As construction progresses, we were pleased to welcome a representative from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection for an on-site tour of the work underway. Site visits like these are a common practice on grant-funded projects and provide an opportunity to review progress, highlight construction quality, and discuss how these improvements will enhance system reliability and deliver long-term benefits for the Fort Pierce community. We value the transparency these engagements create and the opportunity to clearly demonstrate how grant investments are being translated into visible, measurable progress in the field.
Also, we’d like to thank all of our partners, contractors, vendors, and crews who are helping us deliver this important project to our customers! FPUA is grateful for this project with industry leaders Globaltech, Inc., Haskell and Hazen, the site designers and build team; TLC Diversified, Inc., re-routing the conveyance system to redirect wastewater flows away from the Indian River Lagoon; Kimley-Horn, the conveyance system designers, and the sub-contractors working so hard to keep this project safe and on schedule.
We are also thankful for the partnership with the City of Fort Pierce in this infrastructure improvement effort that will benefit the Fort Pierce community for generations to come.
