Ribbon Cutting Highlights

New Update: Wastewater Wednesdays

This week’s Wastewater Wednesdays features video highlights from the ribbon cutting of FPUA’s Mainland Water Reclamation and Reuse Facility. The first video offers an overview of the facility and the event, while the second video captures key remarks from project partners and leaders, showcasing the collaboration behind this milestone for Fort Pierce.

We are grateful to the partners, elected officials, FPUA staff, and community members who joined us to celebrate this moment. Their support and teamwork helped make this project and this day possible. For those who were not able to attend, we are excited to share these videos so you can experience a glimpse of the celebration and the impact of this project.

In addition to the celebration, we also wanted to share ongoing progress happening across the project. At the Mainland Water Reclamation and Reuse Facility, crews are putting the final touches on the site as the project moves closer to full commissioning and the start of operations. Painting teams are completing final coatings on process piping, and all three buildings are undergoing final inspections and electrical work to prepare the site for the next phase.

Work is also advancing on the wastewater conveyance system between U.S. 1 and 7th Street, where crews are continuing construction to connect key infrastructure and support integration with the existing system.

Additionally, the temporary 18-inch pipeline between the corner of Avenue B and Indian River Drive and Lift Station A is now in service. This temporary line keeps wastewater flowing safely and reliably while bridge and roadway improvements at the Moore’s Creek crossing are underway. Once the new bridge is completed, a permanent pipeline will be installed along the new structure. This milestone helps maintain uninterrupted service today while supporting long-term infrastructure improvements connected to the new wastewater facility.

Also, we’d like to thank all of our partners, contractors, vendors, and crews who are helping us deliver this important project to our customers! FPUA is grateful for this project with industry leaders Globaltech, Inc., Haskell and Hazen, the site designers and build team; TLC Diversified, Inc., re-routing the conveyance system to redirect wastewater flows away from the Indian River Lagoon; Kimley-Horn, the conveyance system designers, and the sub-contractors working so hard to keep this project safe and on schedule.

We are also thankful for the partnership with the City of Fort Pierce in this infrastructure improvement effort that will benefit the Fort Pierce community for generations to come.
