Cabinetry and painting are nearly complete!

NEW UPDATE: Wastewater Wednesdays!

Last week’s work advanced key mechanical installations at the Mainland Water Reclamation Facility. Crews continued aligning process air piping for the Nereda basins and installing stainless steel sluice gates at the headworks, marking the final stages of structural work in this area.

Inside the Operations and Maintenance Building, interior work is progressing steadily. Cabinetry and painting are nearly complete, creating a finished environment that will soon support furniture delivery and installation. Once operational, the building will serve as the main hub for daily coordination, storage, and maintenance activities. The first section of the stacked tray grit removal system has also been installed and prepared for testing, while crews continue placing the center-flow band screen units in the influent chambers. These advanced systems will remove debris and organic material from incoming flow before it enters the biological treatment phase.

Along the conveyance system, the contractor has mobilized along Avenue B, implementing traffic control measures and conducting utility potholing to verify existing underground conditions ahead of force main installation.

Construction crews, equipment, and project signage are now active throughout the corridor, demonstrating steady progress on the infrastructure that will connect Fort Pierce’s wastewater collection system to the new Mainland Water Reclamation Facility. The newly installed project signage helps residents recognize the ongoing work as part of the broader effort to modernize and strengthen the city’s wastewater system. This milestone marks visible progress toward a more resilient, efficient, and environmentally responsible future for Fort Pierce.

As always, we’d like to thank all of our partners, contractors, vendors, and crews who are helping us deliver this important project to our customers! FPUA is grateful for this project with industry leaders Globaltech, Inc., Haskell and Hazen, the site designers and build team; TLC Diversified, Inc., re-routing the conveyance system to redirect wastewater flows away from the Indian River Lagoon; Kimley-Horn, the conveyance system designers, and the sub-contractors working so hard to keep this project safe and on schedule.

We are also thankful for the partnership with the City of Fort Pierce in this infrastructure improvement effort that will benefit the Fort Pierce community for generations to come.
