Teams continue startup activities, system tuning, and flow testing
New Update: Wastewater Wednesdays!
Big progress continues across FPUA’s wastewater modernization program as crews advance both plant startup efforts and critical underground infrastructure improvements needed to bring the new Mainland Water Reclamation Facility fully online.
Commissioning of the new Mainland Water Reclamation Facility remains underway as FPUA teams continue startup activities, system tuning, and flow testing throughout the facility. These behind-the-scenes efforts are essential to ensuring all treatment systems and equipment perform as designed before the plant reaches full operational status.
In the field, contractors continue making progress on the wastewater conveyance system improvements needed to support the transition to the new facility. At the intersection of North 7th Street and Avenue C, crews are actively installing a new 16-inch force main, including complex utility tie-ins and work within deep trench excavations to connect the new line into the existing system. This force main extension will create a critical link for redirecting wastewater flows from the existing island-side system to the new Mainland Water Reclamation Facility.
Design also continues advancing on the Glenview Force Main Project which is now approximately 90 percent complete. This project will construct additional force main infrastructure to further strengthen the wastewater conveyance network, improve flow management, and enhance long-term system reliability as more wastewater is redirected to the new treatment facility.
With numerous conveyance projects currently underway in various stages of design, permitting, and construction, FPUA looks forward to sharing additional updates as these critical infrastructure improvements continue progressing.
Also, we’d like to thank all of our partners, contractors, vendors, and crew who are helping us deliver this important project to our customers! FPUA is grateful for this project with industry leaders Globaltech, Inc., Haskell and Hazen, the site designers and build team; TLC Diversified, Inc., re-routing the conveyance system to redirect wastewater flows away from the Indian River Lagoon; Kimley-Horn, the conveyance system designers, and the sub-contractors working so hard to keep this project safe and on schedule.
We are also thankful for the partnership with the City of Fort Pierce in this infrastructure improvement effort that will benefit the Fort Pierce community for generations to come.
