Masonry walls at main electrical building steadily rising
NEW UPDATE: Wastewater Wednesdays!
Last week, the second floor of the Operations & Maintenance building saw significant progress. Roof bar joists were placed on the maintenance side, while operations crews installed roof decking panels and completed final plumbing. Masonry work began on the main electrical building, and concrete pedestals were set at the deep injection well site for future pump installations. Structural elements at the chlorine contact chamber continued coming together as teams pushed forward across the site.
This week, crews are making significant progress on multiple fronts. Work on the underground disc filter influent line continues, ensuring proper flow management as connections are installed and reinforced. Masonry walls at the main electrical building are steadily rising, providing structural support for critical electrical components. Over at the headworks, the first structural framing is coming together, with crews setting steel columns and assembling wall forms for the grit removal chambers, which will play a key role in separating solids from incoming wastewater. Meanwhile, at the Operations & Maintenance building, the second half of the roof is being installed, further enclosing the structure to protect interior work. Additionally, the maintenance bay staircase is being placed, securing access between levels for future operations and maintenance activities.
As always, we’d like to thank all of our partners, contractors, vendors, and crews who are helping us deliver this important project to our customers! FPUA is grateful for this project with industry leaders Globaltech, Inc., Haskell and Hazen, the site designers and build team; TLC Diversified, Inc., re-routing the conveyance system to redirect wastewater flows away from the Indian River Lagoon; Kimley-Horn, the conveyance system designers, and the sub-contractors working so hard to keep this project safe and on schedule.
We are also thankful for the partnership with the City of Fort Pierce in this infrastructure improvement effort that will benefit the Fort Pierce community for generations.
