Pipe crews advancing work on plant lift stations
New Update: Wastewater Wednesdays
Last week, construction teams advanced several core elements of the project, completing epoxy coating on all yard piping to strengthen long-term system performance, and wrapping up major electrical work with the final duct bank, wire pulls, and installation of the primary power transformer. Downtown, the contractor continued installing the 16-inch PVC force main between 2nd Street and the utility bridge over Moore’s Creek, with temporary road closures still in effect.
This week, the project is hitting a new stride. Crews are laying asphalt at the O&M building’s parking lot, a milestone that sets the foundation for the loop road construction scheduled to begin in the coming weeks. At the treatment facility, teams are finalizing the direct tie-in connection between the WRRF and the Treasure Coast Energy Center, which will become FPUA’s first official reuse customer. This connection represents a strategic operational upgrade that will support long-term water reuse goals and deliver measurable value to the community. Pipe crews are also advancing work on the plant lift stations that send process and reject flows back to the beadworks for continued treatment, strengthening the facility’s internal recirculation system and overall efficiency.
In the downtown area, the contractor is working to complete the force main installation in front of Lift Station A this week, positioning the roadway to reopen ahead of the Main Street Parade on December 7 and keeping community impacts as minimal as possible.
We are also thankful for the partnership with the City of Fort Pierce in this infrastructure improvement effort that will benefit the Fort Pierce community for generations to come.
This week’s progress reflects a highly aligned, execution-driven momentum that positions the project for strong end-of-year performance and continued operational wins.
Also, we’d like to thank all of our partners, contractors, vendors, and crews who are helping us deliver this important project to our customers! FPUA is grateful for this project with industry leaders Globaltech, Inc., Haskell and Hazen, the site designers and build team; TLC Diversified, Inc., re-routing the conveyance system to redirect wastewater flows away from the Indian River Lagoon; Kimley-Horn, the conveyance system designers, and the sub-contractors working so hard to keep this project safe and on schedule.
We are also thankful for the partnership with the City of Fort Pierce in this infrastructure improvement effort that will benefit the Fort Pierce community for generations to come.
